The Music and the Arts of Week 6 2009

Good morning everyone,

Here we are at the beginning of Week 6 of PoP4.  I hope you are enjoying your reading this summer and the cooler weather!  Are you sharing your favorite reads of the summer?  If you’d like to see what others are reading and share your own reading, just go to http://pop4.thebookloverinme.com/ and spend a few minutes.

This week’s theme for the librarian reviews is music and the arts (M and N in our library collection).  Kitty read and reviewed Muscophilia by Oliver Sacks and Tony read The Bayeux Tapestry.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Halfway through PoP4 2009

Good morning everyone,

Can you believe that we are at the halfway point in PoP4, the summer reading extravaganza!  The librarians are reading in the L's this week on our walk through the stacks.  In the L's are books on educators and education of all levels.  Kitty has reviewed a book by a famous educator named Herbert Kohl.  If you'd like to read our reviews, go to http://pop4.thebookloverinme.com/ and select "Theme of the Week".

I am noticing that the number of books read is increasing steadily!  It is not too late to join your reading colleagues - faculty and staff alike and tell us about what you are reading.  Thanks for your participation!

Week 4 of PoP4 2009

Hello everyone,

This is the beginning of week 4 of PoP4 - our summer reading extravaganza.

Hopefully everyone is staying cool and has picked a good book to read to enhance your summer relaxation.  This week, the librarians are reading from the G's and H's - on topics from sports and recreation to business and sociology.  Look for some great reviews to come out on the PoP4 webpage this week.  The reading leader this summer has already reported on 13 books!

If you want to join the fun, visit the web page at http://pop4.thebookloverinme.com/index.html and tell us what you are reading!  Prizes await those who participate.  Of course, the joy of reading is always its own reward so there are only winners in this program!

Week 2

Welcome to summer everyone!

Week 2 of our summer reading spectacular is upon us! It is so good to hear from all of our faithful readers again this summer. I love reading those reviews! It makes me want to read the books you are reading. The librarians are taking a “Walk Through the Stacks” this summer and sampling from some of the major call number areas. Last week we read from the B’s and this week we are reading in the C’s and D’s – History of Asia, Africa, Archaeology and History of the world. There are a ton of great biographies and histories in this call number range and we are having a blast picking and reading books to review. As always, our picks and reviews are available for you to see at the library entrance as well as on the PoP4 website.

Remember that you can read anything available in the library or through LINK+. Just report the book you read on the web site created for this purpose at http://pop4.thebookloverinme.com/ and you will be eligible for prizes after you’ve read your first book, 5th book and 10th book. I’m glad to see so many of us participating again this year.

Stay cool this week!
